Big corporations would have to hit $25 by 2031, and small businesses by 2038. In my opinion, this is a terrible idea. A jump like this could mean layoffs, businesses closing, higher prices, and even more inflation — especially in the South where small businesses are the backbone of the economy. Effect on Businesses? People forget that business is profits and losses. If labor costs explode, profit disappears. That kills the idea of even starting a business if you need employees. I could understand $10 or $12 an hour, but $25 is ridiculous. And look at California. They already have some of the highest minimum wages in the country, and it didn’t magically fix anything.
